Leanne uses walking as a process to observe, investigate and record the various layers of human activity along urban and suburban waterways and where these activities intersect with nature. She creates vocalised interpretations of the soundscape of these sites, that uses the voice as an evocative metaphor for the intersections between the built environment and nature.
The soundscape translated to language to create a written transcription to present a record of a series of different transitions within this diverse landscape. Explore how simplified language can present poetic gestures that invites contemplation of the ecology of specific sites within the urban and suburban landscape, with an attempt to understand place. Leanne aims to transpose fluctuations and intensities of human and natural sounds encountered on the creek into a colour and scale visual format using detritus sourced from the site.
